The photographic print of this stand of stumps outside Seattle was a perfectly acceptable tourist photo, but the stumps that had caught my eye were lost in the green landscape. After many attempts to create the otherworldly sense of this scene, I finally struck the balance between texture, color, focus, and light that allows the beholder to create their own story.
